Some of the patients that come to me have been taking as many as two hundred capsules of nutritional supplements every day. They have read or been told that taking lots of supplements will sustain their health. They are trying to fill the nutritional gap between what their bodies need and what is available to them from the food they buy at the supermarket.

Unfortunately, we live in an increasingly toxic environment. The European Union recently determined that the life expectancy of its citizens is now one year shorter, as a result of increased air pollution.

Anxiety and the pace of life seem to go up every year. Like physical toxins, these emotional stresses exert extra demands on our bodies and immune systems, which in turn look for nutritional support to deal with the pressure.

It is no wonder that the amount of nutritional advice that we get has become overwhelming. There is so much information and so many new products to consider, it’s difficult to know what to do.

Fortunately, what we need is produced by nature herself and is readily available in the form of whole, natural foods that are so packed with easily assimilated nutrition that they are true superfoods. They have been cooking in nature’s laboratory for millions of years. They contain an abundance of wholesome broad-spectrum nutrients and, because they occur naturally, our bodies can absorb them very easily.

Each of these superfoods is so rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes and life force that any one of them alone can make a tremendous difference to our health and wellbeing. I recommend to my patients that they take all of these natural foods every day.

The key difference between them and regular supplements is that they are fully balanced, natural, whole foods. They will not throw your body into imbalance when you take them - unlike the chemically-isolated nutrients that characterize most commercial supplements. That’s why it is safe to take them every day. They are actual food.

Super Kamut
The specific superfoods your body needs are: kamut, spirulina, chlorella, alfalfa, barley grass, rice germ and bran, purple dulse, flax lignans , and fossilized stony coral. These are so important I’ve devoted a separate page on this web site to each one of them, including the best brands to buy, and the amounts to take. I have also put them into a product I have formulated called Super Kamut. It provides all that is needed in one daily scoop – except for coral calcium.

Fossilized stony coral is so important I wrote a book about it. It contains all of the minerals we need, all in one natural source. (I also wrote a book about minerals and their importance to our health.) Minerals are foundational to our health. If we are deficient in any one of them, we get sick. Supermarket food does not contain all of the minerals that your body needs. I let my patients know that mineral supplementation is, in my view, an absolute requirement for good health, not a desirable option.

Coral Blend
Fossilized stony coral is the best kind of coral to take. The amount needed varies from person to person, which is why I do not include it in my Super Kamut. It is readily available in health food stores. Fossilized stony coral is significantly better than the coral that has been dredged from the ocean floor. I formulated my own product, Coral Blend, so I could be sure my patients were getting the best land-based coral.

Eating and savoring delicious, organically-grown grains, vegetables, and superfoods can be a much more enjoyable and satisfying experience than laboriously swallowing handfuls of capsules.
